What is OpenAI?
OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research lab. It is focused on developing advanced technologies and solutions that are based on Artificial Intelligence. OpenAI was founded in December 2015 by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, Wojciech Zaremba, and John Schulman.
OpenAI has been working in the fields of machine learning, natural language processing and robotics.
Currently, OpenAI has the following offerings:
1. What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an advanced language model developed by OpenAI. It is based on the GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) architecture and designed to understand and generate human-like text in conversational settings. ChatGPT provides text outputs in response to the inputs, also called prompts.
For example, I can give these two prompt to ChatGPT to get two different text output.
- Explain AI to 5 years old in simple english.
- Explain AI to 25 years old in professional english.
Based on these prompts, ChatGPT has generated following responses which are based on pre-trained response.
Similarly, various other responses can be generated.
How to use ChatGPT in your products?
ChatGPT can be deployed in our professional lives in many ways. Some of the possibilities are
- Using ChatGPT to create content such as documents, customer complaints and instruction guides
- Writing computer code for your products
- Answering questions about most of the things around
- Analysing texts and customer feedback to understand the sentiments and gather insights
- Creating conversational chatbots to take the load off your support channels
- Tutoring in a range of subjects to assist your kids and students e.g Khan Academy
- Translating languages
- Simulating characters for games
- and much more …
2. How to generating images using OpenAI?
Another application developed by OpenAI is image generation which is done through DALL.E 2 platform.
The Images API provided by OpenAI provides three methods for interacting with images:
- Creating new images by giving a text input
- Editing an existing image based on a new text prompt
- Generating variations of an existing image
As explained by OpenAI, if you give you the prompt “a white siamese cat”, a cat image will be generated.
The image generation feature can help us
- Generate company logos
- Illustrations and music videos
- Custom product designs
- Generating magazine covers
- and much more, there is actually no limit to creativity
3. What is speech to text?
Speech to text is another application developed by OpenAI. Speech to text can be used in two ways
- Convert the audio in whatever language it is, into text
- Covert the audio to text and translate in English or any other language
The current offerings by OpenAI and ChatGPT has created endless possibilities which the world is still trying to figure out.
